Elbow Problems

Common Elbow Problems and How Chiropractic Partners can Help

  • Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis): Pain on the outside of the elbow, often caused by repetitive gripping, lifting, or wrist extension. Chiropractic care may help with joint and soft-tissue treatment, movement guidance, and exercises to reduce strain and improve function. Shockwave therapy can be extremely beneficial, as can dry needling. Taping can also be very useful.
  • Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis): Pain on the inside of the elbow from overuse of the wrist flexor muscles and tendons. Chiropractic care may help by addressing muscle tension, improving arm and wrist mechanics, and recommending stretches and strengthening. Shockwave therapy and soft tissue treatments can be quite beneficial.
  • Tendinitis or tendinopathy: General irritation or degeneration of the tendons around the elbow from repetitive use. Chiropractic care may help by identifying movement patterns that overload the tendon and we can use laser, shockwave, soft tissue mobilization and chiropractic adjustments to correct any underlying dysfunctions. We then use exercise-based care to strengthen the area.

In some cases, regenerative therapies such as Stem Cell and PRP injections can also be a valuable treatment option.  If you have elbow pain, don’t suffer.  You can find relief at our state of the art Durham office.
